Pogba’s contract at United is slated to expire at the end of the season, and there is no sign that he will stay. It means they could lose the 29-year-old for the second time, having also let him go on a free transfer earlier in his career.

There has been a lot of talk about where the France international will play this summer. It has been suggested that he return to Juventus, but other clubs like as PSG and Real Madrid have also been mentioned as prospective destinations.

Pogba’s prospects of staying at Old Trafford, on the other hand, are hardly discussed. His upcoming exit is a big miscalculation on the part of the club, which paid nearly £90 million to re-sign him in 2016, only to see him leave for free a second time.

Pogba’s stint at United has divided opinion, with the midfielder displaying flashes of his evident brilliance but also being chastised for failing to deliver on a consistent basis. As his second stint at the club draws to a close, he has come in for greater criticism for his recent performances, as United’s chances of finishing in the top four appear to be dwindling.

Ferdinand, on the other hand, has directed his rage at United’s management. The veteran defender chastised his former club for allowing Pogba’s contract to expire without the club cashing in or holding him down to a longer term.

“The club’s business has been done badly,” Ferdinand said on his FIVE YouTube channel. “We shouldn’t let players reach to this point in their contracts,” he says. It should not happen, in my opinion.

“It’s simply wicked from an economic standpoint to let someone you’ve spent £80 million to £90 million on, plus salary, leave on a free transfer.” It’s as though they’ve taken our trousers off twice.”
