Shakhtar Donetsk’s £60m striker Mykhaylo Mudryk has described reports linking him to Premier League side Newcastle United as “misinformation” on his official Instagram account, via UA Tribuna.

One of the most coveted strikers in European football will have to get used to the speculation.

Over the past two months, Mudryk has been linked with around 50% of the Premier League; Arsenal, Everton, West Ham, Wolves, Leeds, Brighton and Newcastle United are among those mentioned as possible destinations for the back-row forward. Who is considered the third best left winger in football, behind Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Jr.

i News, meanwhile, claims that Newcastle have sent scouts to watch Mudryk in action. A £50m bid is being considered, two months before the January transfer window.

However, when asked to comment on suggestions he could be on his way to St James’ Park, Mudryk gave the most direct of one-word answers.

“Disinformation,” wrote the Ukrainian international.

Mudryk scored his sixth goal of an excellent campaign this week – a long-range shot against Celtic in Tuesday’s 1-1 Champions League draw in Glasgow. His price tag is said to be in the region of £60m.

Carlo Nicolini, the club’s deputy sporting director, admits Arsenal and Manchester City are two teams who are “interested” in his prized possession.

“There are many English candidates. There is a Spanish (club), a French (club),” Nicolini said, via Calciomercato.

“Arsenal and Manchester City? These are two teams that are interested in the player. But there are also other clubs who can spend immediately. We don’t have to sell.

“In this team, he is the most decisive. If you want to sign players who make the difference at the top clubs, you also need the money.”
