Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel is pessimistic about the team’s chances against Liverpool in the upcoming Premier League clash.

This comes on the heels of the Red Devils’ elimination from the Champions League, finishing at the bottom of their group.

The pressure on manager Erik ten Hag has intensified after an underwhelming start to the Premier League season, leaving United in sixth place, 10 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

The team’s struggles have been exacerbated by an injury crisis, which worsened with key players Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw limping out of the recent 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Liverpool, on the other hand, has established itself as the frontrunner after a come-from-behind 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace. United suffered a dismal 3-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth later that afternoon.

In light of these setbacks, Schmeichel, a Red Devils legend, expressed his doubts about the team’s prospects for the upcoming match at Anfield, describing them as “not very good.”

He pointed out the team’s lack of synchronization, highlighted by injuries to key players, including captain Bruno Fernandes, who is suspended.

Schmeichel commented, “The prospects are not very good. Based on this performance against Bayern, how can this team go to Anfield and win? I just can’t see it.”
