Former Manchester United center-back, Rio Ferdinand, shared details of his meeting with Wilfried Zaha before the Tuesday night Champions League match at Old Trafford.

Zaha had a previous stint at Manchester United between 2013 and 2015, which didn’t go as planned. He subsequently joined Crystal Palace and spent eight years with the club.

However, he sought to challenge himself at the European level, leading him to sign with Turkish giants Galatasaray during the summer transfer window, inking a three-year deal.

Since his departure from Manchester United in 2015, Zaha’s career has seen significant growth. He has become a reliable source of goals and assists.

For Ferdinand, who was still at United when Zaha was signed in 2013, he has witnessed Zaha’s maturity and development.

Ferdinand commented on Zaha’s growth, stating, “He’s matured a lot, definitely. There has been significant development in terms of his maturity, both mentally and character-wise.”

Ferdinand further explained that Sir Alex Ferguson initially brought Zaha to Manchester United, but managerial changes disrupted their working relationship.

Zaha, as a young player, had to adapt to the new environment without the presence of friends or family.

Despite the challenges, Zaha persevered and later became a key figure at Crystal Palace. His one-on-one skills made him a formidable challenge for defenders.

In their recent meeting in the tunnel before the match, Zaha expressed his joy and excitement about playing in the Champions League, calling it a dream come true.

Ferdinand applauded Zaha’s journey, describing it as an amazing story, and expressed his happiness for the Ivorian winger, emphasizing that Zaha is a delightful person.

Manchester United aimed to bounce back with a victory against Galatasaray after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace over the weekend.

While they comfortably defeated Roy Hodgson’s team 3-0 in the Carabao Cup earlier in the week, they struggled to find the net on Saturday, marking their fourth Premier League loss of the season.

It also marked their second consecutive home league defeat, breaking a year-long streak without a league loss at Old Trafford until Brighton secured a victory on September 16.
