According to Italian journalist Gianluca Vitale, Eric Bailly is in talks with several clubs about leaving Manchester United this summer. Napoli, Fenerbahce, and Galatasaray are among the clubs interested in the Manchester United defender.

Bailly wants to move to Napoli, and the two sides are currently negotiating. Manchester United appear to be willing to offload the Ivorian, who has been a victim of the club’s lavish transfer policies since his arrival from Villarreal.

Indeed, Bailly has spent the majority of his time at Manchester United trailing big-money signings like Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Raphael Varane. His role at the club is set to shrink even further as the Red Devils close in on the signing of Ajax starlet Lisandro Martinez for more than €50 million.

The likely acquisition of Martinez may force Bailly to leave Manchester United and move elsewhere in an attempt to resurrect his career.

This is where Napoli enters the picture. After authorizing the sale of Kalidou Koulibaly, the Serie A giants are looking for a new central defender this summer. The Senegalese international has joined Chelsea, leaving a huge void in Napoli’s defensive unit.

Napoli has been linked with a move for Kim Min-Jae as a possible replacement, but the South Korean international is currently on loan at Fenerbahce. It has compelled the Partenopei to target Eric Bailly. The Manchester United star has significant experience at the highest level of football and could be a viable replacement for Koulibaly.

Although they are not on the same level, Bailly and Koulibaly share some characteristics, particularly his no-nonsense defensive mentality and unrivaled work ethic. It should be a huge success for him in Serie A and a huge coup for Napoli, especially given that the Manchester United defender is unlikely to cost a fortune.

Bailly’s struggles at Old Trafford have been well documented, and with only two years remaining on his current contract, Manchester United will be eager to offload him during the current summer transfer window.
