Rangnick is known for his methodical approach, and he’s enlisting the help of German psychologist Sascha Lense, with whom he previously worked at RB Leipzig, to help United’s players improve their minds.

Rangnick, the interim United manager, stated, “The players have to buy in.”

“I can tell them anything I want, but I have to persuade them.” I need to get inside their hearts, brains, and bloodstreams.

As a result, we’ve hired Sascha Lense, a sports psychologist. At Leipzig, I worked with him for three years.

Most clubs in Germany have hired sports psychologists. It makes perfect sense to me.

“You should have a brain expert if you have particular coaches for goalkeeping, physical education, even strikers, fitness, or whatever.”

“It’s not so much about putting them on the red sofa and having them hold hands for the players; most of them won’t do that anyhow.”

“For me, it’s about assisting the players in understanding that the brain should support the body rather than work against it.”

When we talk about football, we all know that the brain is a big component of it.

“Sascha is hands-on; he isn’t too concerned with theory.” I know we’ll benefit a lot because we worked together in Leipzig.”

Rangnick has added ex-New York Red Bulls coach Chris Armas to his coaching team, which will face Young Boys in the Champions League.

“We’re hoping he’ll be able to join us in the next two days,” Rangnick said.
