Ralf Rangnick sends message to Donny van de Beek over Manchester United future

Despite a dismal two seasons, Ralf Rangnick believes Donny van de Beek still has a future at Manchester United.

Van de Beek joined United from Ajax for £40 million in September 2020, making four Premier League appearances before joining Everton on loan for the rest of the season in January. Van van Beek has been out of Everton’s last two games due to a thigh injury.

After failing to impress former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and losing his position in Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands side, the 24-year-old only started once under Rangnick, in a Champions League dead-rubber against Young Boys.

Van de Beek was groomed into one of Europe’s most wanted playmakers by Erik ten Hag, who is poised to be named United manager ahead of next season, and their impending reunion in Manchester might provide Van de Beek a lifeline. Despite the fact that Rangnick limited Van de Beek to 116 minutes in the 10 games in which he managed him, he believes there is a good chance Van de Beek’s United career will be extended.
