Although the Wembley fans on Tuesday night reminded Harry Maguire of the kind of season he’s having at United, he doesn’t need reminding. During England’s latest friendly against Ivory Coast ahead of the World Cup at the end of the year, the defender was booed.
The United captain was booed not only when his name was announced on the Wembley tannoy system, but also when he made his first touch. However, the 29-year-old was able to quiet part of the fans as England cruised to a 3-0 victory.
Maguire was also praised for his contribution to England’s second goal of the night. United fans praised his ability to set Ollie Watkins free in the build-up to Raheem Sterling’s goal, and hoped to see more of it before the end of the season.
