Paul Pogba’s World Cup winner’s medal stolen during burglary

France midfielder Paul Pogba revealed that his World Cup winner’s medal was among the valuables stolen during a home robbery last week.

Pogba’s home was broken into while his children were sleeping on March 15, during Manchester United’s Champions League match against Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old Frenchman won the World Cup in 2018 when France defeated Croatia in the final in Russia.

“There were my mother’s diamonds and my world champion medal,” Pogba told the French publication Le Figaro on Tuesday.

“What frightened me the most was that my two children were at home with the nanny at the time of the occurrence.

“She overheard everything, contacted my wife and security, and then locked herself in a room with the boys. She was stunned for several days. The most important thing is that my children are healthy.”

Pogba, who is in France’s team for friendlies against Ivory Coast and South Africa, has previously spoken up about mental health challenges he has faced throughout his career, particularly under former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

“I’ve had depression throughout my career,” he admitted, “but we don’t talk about it.”

“Sometimes you don’t know who you are, and all you want to do is isolate yourself and be alone. These are undeniable indicators.

“Personally, it began when I was working for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. You question yourself, wondering if you are to blame because you have never had these situations in your life.

“All top athletes experience these times, but few discuss them. You will undoubtedly feel it [depression] in your body and mind, and you may be unable to function for a month, or maybe a year. However, you are not required to mention it. In any way, in public.

“We make a lot of money and don’t really complain, but it doesn’t stop us from having more difficult moments than others, just like everyone else in life.”
