After bringing in players like Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo throughout the summer, United had high hopes for a successful campaign.

In the period since, though, the Red Devils have regressed, losing to Leicester City, Liverpool, and Manchester City in recent weeks.

This isn’t ideal for United, and it raises doubts about Solskjaer’s future in the process.

According to the Independent, the 48-year-old has been in contact with former teammate Kevin Keane in an attempt to turn things around.

During the years when Sir Alex Ferguson ruled the roost at Old Trafford, the two were close, with the Scot helping the club dominate the Premier League.

And it appears like Solskjaer is seeking counsel in order to keep his job.

United will face Watford on Saturday with a slew of managerial rumors swirling around the club.

Brendan Rodgers is one of them, but the Northern Irishman made it clear on Thursday that he wanted to continue at Leicester.

He explained, “There are two things.”

“First and foremost, asking the question when you have a manager [Ole Gunnar Solskjaer] in place, a good manager and a good man, working for the club, is really insulting.

“Secondly, I can’t really say anything about it because it isn’t real.”  “I’m proud to be here as Leicester City manager; I’m honored to be here, and I’m absolutely committed to the players, the club, and the ownership.”

That’s pretty much it. We have no control over the rest of the surrounding sounds.

“I’ve focused, as I’ve done throughout my career, and the only club I’m thinking about right now is Chelsea and getting ready for them.”

Erik ten Hag has also been mentioned, but he, like Rodgers, has stated that he is happy with Ajax.

Another alternative is Zinedine Zidane, who appears to favor the France position. Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, is a difficult manager to recruit due to his obligations at Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, United captain Harry Maguire was recently criticized by Keane.

During the international break, Maguire scored for England against Albania, but his decision to celebrate by cupping his ears was deemed ’embarrassing.’

Adrian Durham of talkSPORT has now turned on Keane, stating he’s ‘too terrified’ to criticize Solskjaer.

“He isn’t the issue,” he stated emphatically.

“Why do you believe he’s talking about Maguire, Roy Keane?”

“Because he’s afraid to criticize his teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.” It’s pitiful.

“What Roy Keane is doing isn’t constructive, it’s not technical, and it’s certainly not football.”

“What he’s doing is ludicrous; it’s equal to bullying, and I don’t think it’s helpful or beneficial to someone like Harry Maguire, who has a lot on his plate.”

“As Manchester United captain, he has a lot on his plate, so criticizing him for celebrating a goal…there’s a lot you can criticize him for.”

“I understand his Manchester United performances! Many other Manchester United players are not performing well for the club.

“Don’t make fun of them for scoring a goal and celebrating it; it’s pathetic.” It’s quite humiliating.

“By the way, here is Roy Keane, who abandoned his teammates during a World Cup, and what did they do?” They had a party after he had left.

“Listen, he just needs to concentrate on other things.”
