Not Amrabat – ‘Signed and sealed’: Club now to make ‘Outstanding’ signing after rapid transfer progress – Exclusive

According to Last Word on Football’s sources, Leeds United and Leicester City have a “signed and sealed” loan agreement for left-back Luke Thomas. This follows Manchester United’s reported interest, with the Yorkshire club emerging victorious in the battle for the youngster’s services. Previous manager Brendan Rodgers also called Thomas “outstanding.”

Why Does Leeds United Require Luke Thomas?

Left-back is one of Daniel Farke’s squad’s weakest links. Junior Firpo, noted for his near-constant injury difficulties, is one of the club’s two specialist full-backs, with Leo Hjelde and Sam Byram serving only as temporary fill-ins. Signing a permanent option in the position not only provides needed quality but also ends the continuous problem of fitting square pegs into round holes on Elland Road.

Leeds’ pursuit of the full-back was hampered late in the process due to Manchester United’s consideration of a hijacking. The Red Devils now lack fit and healthy talent in that position, with Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw both unavailable due to injuries. Loyal Whites will be delighted to injure a traditional foe while strengthening their own cause.

Leeds United’s Remaining Transfer Business

After securing the Leicester player at left-back, the Elland Road administration has little work to do. One of the weaker spots on the pitch is center midfield, where the Whites have little depth outside of the starting duo of Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray.

Any additional transaction would almost certainly be about departing players, with the loss of a player like Luis Sinisterra almost certainly leading to the club seeking for a replacement winger.
