The Brazil midfielder has a year left on his contract at Old Trafford, and he’s fallen out of favor under Ten Hag, despite the fact that the Dutchman still uses him in select games.

In the win over Fulham, Fred made a fantastic assist for Bruno Fernandes, but he’s already behind Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the pecking order.

Jose Mourinho purchased the midfielder from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52 million in 2018, and despite struggles in the north-west, he’s made over 200 appearances in a red shirt.

However, with United preparing an initial £50 million bid for Chelsea player Mason Mount, Ten Hag must balance the books in order to spend the majority of his £100 million budget on a new striker.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United will seriously examine a bid from Fulham, with Ten Hag willing to let Fred go.

Newcastle are interested in Scott McTominay, but he is the youngest of United’s senior midfielders.

Fred, Eriksen, Casemiro, and Fernandes are all in their late twenties, while Marcel Sabitzer is 29.

Mount, 24, has a year left on his Chelsea contract and appeared distraught at the end-of-season lap of honor on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

Despite interest from Arsenal, Newcastle, and Liverpool, Manchester United is Mount’s preferred destination.
