Not Kane or Osimhen – Manchester United hold talks over deal for £100 million striker

When Manchester United hosts Wolves on Saturday, they will be trying to move one step closer to sealing a place in the Premier League's top four.

The Red Devils are now in fourth place and need three victories from their next four games to stay there and qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Rivals Liverpool, on the other hand, is only a point behind and will be ready to capitalize if Erik ten Hag’s team makes a mistake.

United appear to be planning a big summer transfer window, with a number of players linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The club appears to have held negotiations with one of their top targets and may be planning a large offer.

The Red Devils have held negotiations with Benfica about a possible transfer for forward Goncalo Ramos, according to The Mirror.

The 21-year-old is having a fantastic season for the Portuguese club, having scored 25 goals and provided 11 assists in 44 outings across all competitions.

United are reportedly seeking for a new striker to lead the line next season, after failing to fully replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club in November.

Wout Weghorst joined United on loan from Championship club Burnley in January but has failed so far, failing to score a single Premier League goal in 14 outings.

The Dutchman is due to return to his native club at the conclusion of the season, and United have been connected with Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen as they look for a new striker.

United could have to pay a record amount of up to £100 million plus add-ons to sign Ramos this summer, though the club is still keen in Kane and could make offers for both.

If Manchester United paid £100 million for Ramos, he would be the most expensive signing in the club’s history.

Ramos scored three goals and assisted another as Portugal thrashed Switzerland 6-1 in the World Cup quarterfinals last year.
