Rabiot has been linked with a move to Old Trafford following United’s defeat to Brighton last weekend. The two clubs reportedly agreed a deal worth an initial £15m plus add-ons during the week, with personal terms yet to be finalised.

Erik ten Hag is “very interested” in the midfielder, described by Gianluigi Buffon as “incredible”, but the transfer has yet to be finalised.

THE LATEST NEWS: UPDATE FROM ROMANO

Romano took to Twitter on Sunday morning to give an update on United and Rabiot, less than 24 hours after the club’s 4-0 defeat to Brentford.

The transfer pundit claimed that United “want to push” for Rabiot, with a “new round of talks” with his mother and agent Veronique expected to take place soon.

Romano added that “all parties involved are now very confident that the deal will go through”, and that Juventus are waiting to receive a first fee, should the transfer go through.

The Frenchman will be able to play as a holding midfielder or as a central midfielder, offering competition to Fred and Scott McTominay.

Rabiot also has an eye for goal, with 33 goals for club and country, more than his number of assists, and as Ten Hag is a fan, it is hoped that he will go straight into the starting line-up.
