On Sunday, Casemiro was issued a straight red card for violent behavior during the first half of the Red Devils’ goalless draw at home against bottom-of-the-table Southampton.

Erik ten Hag expressed his displeasure with the decision but chose not to appeal, meaning the Brazilian will serve a four-match punishment for his second red card in three Premier League games.

After the two-week international break, the midfielder will miss Sunday’s match against Fulham, as well as matches against Newcastle, Brentford, and Everton.

Man United’s woes were exacerbated on Tuesday when it was revealed that Garnacho will be out for several weeks owing to an ankle injury.

The Argentine suffered a ligament injury as a result of a challenge from Kyle Walker-Peters, which unfortunately resulted in racist insults directed towards the Saints full-back on social media.

“It’s impossible to express how I’m feeling right now,” Garnacho wrote on Instagram. “Sad I will not be able to aid my club and teammates in the forthcoming games in what is a very vital phase of the season for us at Manchester United.

“I am disappointed to also miss the opportunity to be with my teammates of the Argentina National Team in what would have been a tremendous and proud event for myself and my family.

“This is part of football and our job, nevertheless, I am already engaged in my recovery. God has taught me to never give up, and I intend to return stronger than ever!”

Eddie Howe’s team will be seeking to get revenge on Manchester United after losing the Carabao Cup final in February. Newcastle is vying for a place in the Champions League and needs a win at Nottingham Forest on Friday to advance to the match at Saint James’ Park on Sunday, April 2.
