Raphael Varane, a Manchester United defender, has remarked on our 1-1 draw with Southampton at Old Trafford.
In the midday kick-off, the Reds took the lead through Jadon Sancho, but a Che Adams equalize early in the second half ensured a draw.
Our no.19 has reacted on the draw ahead of United’s return to Premier League action on Tuesday against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford, believing there is little time to linger on the result.
“We are sad with the result; it is not good enough for us, but we must keep striving,” the France international said later to BT Sport.
“I believe we have played considerably better in the last three or four games, yet the result is insufficient for us.”
“I believe we must fight to stay focused on the next game and, hopefully, achieve the desired outcome.”
Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Sancho had excellent chances in front of goal, so Ralf Rangnick’s side were unlucky not to be farther ahead at the break.
Varane concedes that the performance level slipped significantly as the second 45 minutes began, after United conceded at the start of the second half, as it did at Burnley on Tuesday.
