Manchester United are apparently preparing to enter the race for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, with Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Arsenal also reportedly interested.
Contract talks at his current club Napoli have stalled, attracting attention from the two Spanish clubs as well as Manchester United. The Reds were said to be leading the battle to sign the 25-year-old last month, but Tuttomercato Web now says that an extension is no longer on the table.
Ruiz is a flexible player who can play in the holding role or farther forward in the hole behind the attackers, although earning significantly less than other targets on the market. United’s midfield has been identified as the ‘greatest weakness’ as the club prepares for the summer transfer window.
Barcelona, meantime, is expected to do a U-turn and make a bid for Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman has been regularly linked with a move to Liverpool in recent seasons, including in January when he appeared to be on his way out of Camp Nou.
Xavi is apparently aiming to offer Dembele a two-year extension at the La Liga club, according to Sport through the Express, with Dembele supposedly ‘open’ to an agreement due to his gratitude for the Barca manager.
