While appearing on the FIVE YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano gave an honest update on Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.
Ronaldo made a sensational return to Old Trafford in September, as Manchester United fought off competition from city rivals for the striker, but with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2023 and the Portuguese international likely to want Champions League football, his future remains uncertain.
The 37-year-old is also not getting any younger, but he has been one of Manchester United’s greatest players this season, with 15 goals in all competitions – and Romano believes the striker wants to stay.
Romano provided an upbeat update on Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United.
“I want to be really honest with you; I asked about Cristiano last week, and the response I got was that he has no plans to leave,” he stated. He’s not going to make up stories about his future; he’s just going to battle for United, and he wants to fight for Manchester United.”
TIF Opinions on Cristiano Ronaldo…
While the 37-year old certainly does have his limits – which are obvious in that he can’t press very effectively, having successfully done so just 39 times this season out of an attempted 130 (as per FBRef) – his ability to score goals is something the Red Devils have desperately needed this season.
There is an option to extend Ronaldo’s contract until 2024, which could be a bit too much even for one of the finest players of all time, but as long as he’s scoring goals, why would Man United part ways with him willingly?
