The Manchester United midfielder has promised to produce more goals and assists this season, despite the fact that his assists-to-goals ratio with Paul Pogba has been remarkable this season, yet to be surpassed by anyone in the league.
Since joining Manchester from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, Fernandes has been one of our greatest players. He had gone six games without a goal in all competitions until hitting the game-winning goal against Brighton on Tuesday night.
Only Mohamed Salah (52) and Harry Kane (44) have had more goal involvements than Fernandes (43) in the previous and current seasons. That hasn’t deterred the United star, who has promised to bring even more to the table.
“No, sometimes when we’re in the training field, we always have the TV on and sometimes that kind of stats come out, but I’m not really worried about that,” Fernandes told the official website of Manchester United.
“Of course, I aim to improve on my stats from last season.” I always want to do better than before, and I want to attempt to score more goals and assist more times, as well as create more chances for my teammates.
“But not really, the most important thing is what you do on the field and show that you’re doing it game after game and constantly developing.”
It’s clearly an honor to be on that list, especially given I came in and was compared to Harry Kane, who scored a lot of goals last season. By one assist, he was named playmaker of the season, and Mo Salah has been great, scoring a lot of goals.
“It’s always a joy to be on that list with him for goal involvements, goals, and assists, or anything.” It makes you proud of what you’re doing, especially since I know there’s a lot more to come. I believe I can do far better, and I am confident that I will.”
As I stated in a recent article, I believe Fernandes and Pogba can help United finish in the top four this season, especially if they continue to connect on the field.
