Nemanja Vidic sends Manchester United dressing room message over new manager

Nemanja Vidic, a former Manchester United defender, has advised the club’s players to be open-minded about their new manager ahead of the summer transfer window.

United appear to be getting closer to a deal, with Erik ten Hag drawing closer to Old Trafford. Ajax expects the 52-year-old to take over as manager after he was interviewed for the position last month — yet when asked about it on Saturday, Ten Hag declined to comment.

United, too, insists they haven’t made a definitive decision on their next permanent manager, although they do plan to have someone in place by the conclusion of the season. Following the resignation of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November, Ten Hag emerged as the club’s preferred candidate. He was one of the frontrunners alongside Mauricio Pochettino.

Despite the fact that United claim to have found their man for the job, the club’s players do not appear to be convinced. According to the Manchester Evening News, there is a division in the Old Trafford dressing room about Ten Hag’s possible presence, with some considering it ‘underwhelming.’

United legend Vidic, on the other hand, has urged his former club’s current crop to have an open mind about whoever takes over as their new manager. In an interview with The Athletic, the former defender discussed what the new manager needs to do to turn the club’s fortunes around.

“He wants the players to work together,” Vidic stated. “It reminds me of the importance of players thinking for the team rather than themselves.

“And he requires expertise, as well as a clear understanding of what he expects from the players on the field.” He must be able to improve the players since there are those who need to improve and who have the potential to do so if they have an open mind.

“United has some talented players.” If you look at Liverpool’s players, they wouldn’t fit in with United’s style, and United’s players wouldn’t fit in with Liverpool’s or City’s style.

“The coach must assess his current roster, determine which players he wants to bring in, and develop a clear strategy.” It’s easy to say, but the players must approach the new coach with an open mind.”
