Rashford unhappy with Manchester United for costing teammate’s January transfer

According to The Mirror, the Manchester United squad is extremely dissatisfied with the club’s handling of Jesse Lingard following Newcastle United’s failed effort to sign him earlier this month. The transfer to St. James’ Park had lately fallen through due to Man United’s expectations.

Newcastle was interested in loaning Lingard out for the rest of the season to assist them to avoid relegation. They were willing to pay his entire wage package of £100,000 per week in exchange for £2.5 million in loan fees to the Red Devils. However, the Manchester club demanded a survival premium of £12 million, causing the deal to fall through.

Ralf Rangnick’s team insisted that their expectations were reasonable, given that the Magpies would earn around £100 million if they remained in the Premier League at the conclusion of the current season. The players were incensed when the Magpies were priced out of a bid for the Englishman, who has not been a regular at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford was specifically mentioned as one of the players, which was the last thing the team needed at this point in the season. Furthermore, a source close to the 29-year-old revealed that the Glazers were “terrified” to see him thrive somewhere following what transpired at West Ham United last season.

Reasonable reaction

We can’t blame the players for their outrage, given that the club has practically forced the attacking midfielder to sit on the bench for the next five months. The delegation provision was an audacious addition, and the demand was not well received within the camp.

We should have sought to minimize costs with the England international, who is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the season. Instead, we may now be compelled to bear the salary while also losing a sizable loan sum. The club’s attitude has essentially created an environment in which unrest is more likely.

The board should make an effort to correct their error. If that chapter with the Toon is over, they would be prudent to fully consider interest from Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Everton and reach a deal before the deadline date.

He is certainly not in Rangnick’s plans, since he has seen little action this season. With the FIFA World Cup on the horizon, Lingard would undoubtedly understand that acquiring playing time is possibly the only way to persuade Gareth Southgate to consider him.

Fans would appreciate it if the club did not completely disregard Lingard’s best interests in order to maximize their own profits. The Englishman, a United youth academy graduate, has given his all for the badge over the years.
