Manchester United’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen has received a significant boost after Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis reduced the asking price.

The Nigeria international enjoyed a good season with the Naples club in 2022/23. In 39 games, he scored 31 goals and assisted on five others.

He was instrumental in ending the club’s three-decade drought for the Scudetto, but he could be on the move this summer due to interest from Manchester United.

Osimhen has refused to rule out a summer exit, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport (page 16), De Laurentiis will not sell for less than €120 million.

It was previously rumored that De Laurentiis will not accept offers below €150 million, but the valuation has been reduced ahead of the next transfer window.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, United are leading the battle to recruit Osimhen among English clubs, but they may face competition from European rivals.

Bayern Munich, AS Monaco, Newcastle United, PSG, and Real Madrid are all mentioned.

After Harry Kane’s injury, United received a timely striker boost.
United manager Erik Ten Hag has selected Harry Kane as his top priority, but the Englishman appears unlikely to join the club in the next weeks.

Tottenham Hotspur has no intention of selling him to a direct Premier League opponent. Kane may either finish out his contract or transfer to Madrid.

As a result, the Red Devils may have to consider another option. Osimhen was originally considered pricey, but the latest update may change United’s mind.

With De Laurentiis’ reduction of €30 million, the Nigerian star is now worth slightly more than £100 million. This should prompt the Red Devils to submit a formal bid.

They will not, however, be alone in their pursuit. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain are all willing to pay the cost, and United must act soon to secure a deal.
