Manchester United top performing star wanted by La Liga giants as coach vow sign him at all cost in January

According to Fichajes, Atletico Madrid is planning a move to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. The just-turned-25-year-old is in the final year of his current contract and could be a free agent next summer.

Despite all of the speculation about his future, Rashford is considered untouchable by the club hierarchy, and Erik ten Hag has already asked the club to expedite a new contract before January when clubs will be able to tempt the player.

Rashford has already proven to be an important piece in Ten Hag’s rebuilding process, as the Manchester United youth product has been their main source of goals. He recently scored his 100th goal against West Ham United and would be delighted to stay with his boyhood club beyond the current season.

The new manager was uninterested in discussing contract concerns in the middle of the season and appeared pleased with his job. However, it is now reported that the former Ajax boss cannot afford to lose him for free and has granted his assent to secure the player’s future for an extended length of time.

United can use the one-year extension provision to buy time and avoid an untimely accident since the player will be free to negotiate terms with any club in January.

Atletico has already dropped out of the Champions League and sits nine points behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid. Diego Simeone is likely to present a slew of new players, with the goal of attracting free agents or those on the verge of becoming free agents.

United’s interest in Joao Felix will not alter their existing intentions, as Atletico Madrid is set to split ways with the Portuguese after a string of disappointing seasons.

Convincing Rashford will be difficult since United will want a new contract as soon as possible. Rashford has shown hints of brilliance, and he does not need to be distracted if he is to sustain his form, since this might have serious consequences.
