Antony’s possible Manchester United debut date has been set following his deadline-day signing from Ajax.

United confirmed on Tuesday that they have reached an agreement with the Eredivisie club to sign the 22-year-old. The negotiated sum could increase to €100 million following add-ons, but Ajax has gotten €95 million upfront.

On Thursday, the Brazilian was formally revealed as a United player, and Antony expressed his excitement at joining the club. In his first interview at Carrington, he stated: “It’s a wonderful moment in my career to be joining one of the world’s most historic clubs.

“I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me, especially my family and all of my coaches and teammates because I couldn’t have made it this far without them. Playing for Erik ten Hag at Ajax was ideal for my growth.

“His football and coaching styles bring out the best in me, and I am thrilled to hear about his aims and ambitions in Manchester. My time at Ajax was amazing, and I will be eternally grateful for the trust they placed in me, but now I am ready for the next challenge, and I can’t wait to join my new teammates and contribute to Manchester United’s success.”

The focus is now on when he will make his debut for the club. United signed Antony today, but he will not be available for tonight’s game against Leicester City. The Brazilian’s work permit and visa will be ready in time for his match against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal on Sunday.
