Ralf Rangnick’s Reds visit Elland Road on Sunday after picking up a much-needed three points against Brighton & Hove Albion in midweek.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were again among United’s goals, and a second successive victory is now on the cards, in front of what is expected to be a raucous environment in Yorkshire when fans attend a top-flight match between the clubs for the first time in over two decades.

Rangnick will be hoping to have Raphael Varane available, as the Frenchman was unable to play against the Seagulls despite being listed in the starting XI.

Raphael had stomach problems prior to the game and was unable to play, therefore Victor Lindelof was forced to take his place.

The Reds are also waiting to hear if Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic, who have been out with groyne and shin injuries, are fit to play.

Matic hasn’t played for the Reds since the international break, while Cavani’s only appearance for the club this month came in a 0-0 draw with Burnley, but a return for one or both players would be a boost ahead of a crucial week, with Atletico Madrid waiting in the Champions League next Wednesday.

Eric Bailly, the Ivory Coast international, is on the mend, and he was spotted practising at Carrington two days ago.

Bailly has been dealing with a swollen ankle since the Elephants’ Africa Cup of Nations elimination last month.

Fred and Alex Telles are two players who have successfully reintegrated following absences, as the Brazilian duo made their first outings after COVID-19 on Tuesday.
