Manchester United has made buying a center-forward a priority for the forthcoming summer transfer window, and Erik Ten Hag believes Harry Kane is the ideal candidate.

However, with Tottenham Hotspur proving difficult to negotiate with, Manchester United have looked at other options, including one that Arsenal is also interested in.

Manchester United, according to The Athletic, has approached Atalanta multiple times about signing 20-year-old attacker Rasmus Hojlund, as well as Eintracht Frankfurt about Randal Kolo Muani.

According to the source, Danish striker Henrik Hojlund is more likely to join United at this point, however, both teams are willing to sell their players for the proper price. Hojlund is represented by the SEC agency, which also represents Erik ten Hag. He has eight goals in 31 Serie A appearances this season.

Despite having Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah on their books, Arsenal is said to be interested in signing Hojlund, with Italian site Calciomercato declaring the Gunners favorites. However, according to the most recent update from The Atheltic, United has moved ahead of Mikel Arteta’s side in the hunt for his signature.

According to Danish publication Ekstra Bladet, Atalanta wants between £44 million and £52.8 million for the striker, which would be a significant expense for Manchester United given their uncertainties over their future ownership. Transfermarkt estimates Hojlund’s valuation at about £30 million.

Wout Weghorst has failed to score a Premier League goal since joining on loan from Burnley in January, and Anthony Martial’s injury troubles make him an unreliable choice for the entire season, according to Ten Hag.

Hojlund, a big, powerful menace in attack and natural finisher has drawn comparisons to fellow Scandinavian attacker Erling Haaland.

While it is unlikely that United will sign both Hojlund and one of their favorite strikers, Harry Kane or Victor Osimhen, the Dane is a less expensive option with significant upside.
