It’s been a turbulent season at Old Trafford, and few players will be able to look back on it with pride. United’s players have struggled, and Rashford has been no exception, displaying a lack of confidence on the field on several occasions.

Rashford was forced to miss the start of the season after undergoing surgery, but despite his improved health, he has been unable to turn around his bad form at Manchester United. This season, Rashford has only scored five goals in all competitions.

Rashford was dealt another setback on Saturday night as he was selected on the bench against Leicester. Rangnick chose not to start Rashford because he did not have a centre-forward, a choice that would have wounded the player.

On Sunday, Rashford’s latest snub was discussed, and Cole was asked how United can address the issue.

Cole told Sky Sports, “I think it’s a strange one.”

“I saw yesterday that the manager came out and said he’s been training well in the last few weeks, but it was a straight decision between him and Paul Pogba.” If Pogba and Marcus cannot break into the United team, the club will be in serious trouble.

“When it comes to football, we all lose confidence, but the only way to regain it is to play games.”

“I can’t speak for him, but Marcus’ form has been very up and down from the outside looking in.” He needs an arm around his shoulder at this point, and someone needs to sit down with him, talk to him, and figure out what’s going on.

“At the age he did, there’s no way you can get in the team, and then all of a sudden that talent vanishes – confidence is a big thing.”
