Erik ten Hag has been pursuing the striker for several months, and he is eager to join United, as it has always been his goal to play for them.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are both interested in the 20-year-old. According to reports, his agents told the Serie A club of their wish to move him somewhere this summer.

According to Gazzetta, there are two important variables for the two suitors to ‘unblock’ the negotiations, the first of which is meeting the €70m price tag established by the Italian club.

Atalanta has no financial necessity but has decided to sell Denmark internationally on their terms. They are opposed to including other players as part of the arrangement.

Despite reports that Manchester United is offering €50 million plus €10 million in bonuses, the publication adds that no ‘formal action’ has been taken. This is because agents are ‘serving as a bridge’ between the two clubs.

According to reports, Hjlund’s agents have “increased the level of pressing,” indicating Manchester United’s strong desire to retain his services.

Gazzetta even claims it may be a matter of hours’ before Ten Hag’s side makes a new offer.

The second factor is that Atalanta wants to sell the player as soon as possible so that they may bring in a replacement, similar to how they are scheduled to replace Jeremie Boga with El Bilal Touré.

As long as the Red Devils make a better offer, there will be progress.
