The Red Devils were accused of dragging their feet in the transfer window early on, but they’ve progressively made some moves.

Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez have all arrived this summer, and they have long had an agreement with Barcelona on the transfer of Frenkie de Jong.

The De Jong transfer is being held up by disputes between the player and Barcelona, and there have been rumors that he would like to stay at the Camp Nou rather than join Man United.

In addition to their transfer wranglings, they have the continuous issue of Cristiano Ronaldo wishing to leave the club on a free transfer due to his ‘loyalty to the club.’ You’ve been there for a year now, mate.

Man United, on the other hand, maybe on the right track with another transfer deal, with Goal Brasil reporting that the Premier League team is aiming to ‘progress the discussion’ for Ajax winger Antony.

The Red Devils have ‘raised the offer’ for Antony above the €60 million they had previously bid, but have ‘not yet reached’ the €80 million that Ajax has requested.’

Goal Brasil speculates that Manchester United and Ajax may wait until the “final days of the European summer window” to strike a deal because Erik ten Hag “insists on moving to Old Trafford.”

Ajax is thought to be ‘playing hard in negotiations since they don’t need to accept a cheap offer after selling Lisandro Martinez, Sebastien Haller, Ryan Gravenberch, Nicolas Tagliafico, and Dominik Kotarski.

Another potential snag in the agreement is that Antony’s former club, Sao Paulo, is entitled to approximately 20% of any profit from his move.

United’s main rivals Liverpool have also been connected with Antony, and veteran Premier League striker Noel Whelan believes the Reds would be “silly” not to try to recruit him this summer.

“Clubs like Liverpool can’t stand still,” Whelan told Football Insider. They don’t buy players just to have them. Klopp will be looking for specific players to boost his team even further.

“I don’t believe it will obstruct the route for players like Carvalho and Elliott.” It only adds to the pressure on them to achieve and produce in a Liverpool shirt.

“You want the finest players in the world, and Antony is currently desired by some of Europe’s biggest clubs.” It’s about squad depth. If a player like him is available and Liverpool has the cash, it would be foolish not to sign him.”
