Manchester United is interested in a 22-year-old striker to compete with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo has demonstrated that he can still play in the Premier League, but Manchester United must consider replacing him in the long run.

The Portuguese star is nearing the end of his career, and with Edinson Cavani set to leave on a free transfer, Manchester United will be looking for a striker to compete with Ronaldo next season.

According to CBS Sports, Manchester United are planning a summer move for Jonathan David, and Erik ten Hag has been tracking the Canadian striker for some time.

Manchester United cannot rely on Ronaldo indefinitely.

Although Ronaldo may not need to be replaced right away, as he ages, he will find it difficult to play as many games as he once did. David is still only 22 years old, so he can be brought in to compete for Ronaldo’s starting spot and eventually take over when Ronaldo retires.

David has 69 goals in 178 games in his brief career and an even better goal ratio for his country.

With Manchester United possibly playing in the Europa League next season, it will be an excellent opportunity for them to rest Ronaldo while David gains experience in Ten Hag’s system.
