Manchester United just opted to sell defender Eric Bailly, and he’s getting interested from Serie A heavyweights AC Milan and AS Roma for a summer transfer, according to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell. Several Serie A clubs are interested in Eric Bailly.

Jose Mourinho Is Considering Reuniting With Eric Bailly

According to the report, reigning Italian champions Milan are among the clubs interested in signing Bailly. He could be brought in to replace Alessio Romagnoli, who left the club in the summer.

AS Roma is another club keeping an eye on the 28-year-predicament. old’s Jose Mourinho brought the Ivorian to Old Trafford in 2016, with Bailly subsequently saying that he turned down an offer from rivals Manchester City to join the Red Devils solely to play under the manager.

The Portuguese manager had a special bond with the center-back during his tenure as manager of Manchester United. While these Serie A clubs have yet to make an offer for the 28-year-old, they value his talent and are pondering a move once they have a better understanding of his situation.

Despite an impressive preseason, Bailly is no longer required at United.

During United’s pre-season tour to Asia, the Ivorian center-back made an outstanding impression on Erik ten Hag. In their 4-0 wins over Liverpool and 3-1 wins over Crystal Palace, he was one of their greatest performers, exceeding his teammates at the back and winning over the crowd.

Bailly is a well-liked presence in the Manchester United dressing room. During the 2020/21 season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer even described him as a “likable” person. He is also a talented player, receiving monikers such as “monster” after some spectacular and somewhat unconventional performances. However, due to his injury problems, which have caused him to miss 96 games for the Red Devils since joining in 2016, the Ivorian has lost his place as an important member of the club.

He is now far down United’s central defensive pecking order, with Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, and Jose Mourinho all favored over him. The Red Devils are seeking to sell him and make some money, which they can then use to support their own summer recruits.
