Inter Milan are ready to sell Milan Skriniar in the winter transfer window if the centre-back does not sign a new contract at the San Siro before the end of the year.

The 27-year-old’s current contract at the San Siro expires next June, and rumours have swirled around his future in recent weeks.

Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with the Slovakia international, while Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in his move to the Premier League.

A recent report suggested the 20-time English champions could use Donny van de Beek in a swap deal for the defender, who has made 12 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season.

Inter general manager Giuseppe Marotta recently described Skriniar as “a certainty” for the team when asked about recent developments.

“It’s annoying to see how these things are disturbed, I mean the players are professional but at the same time they are very young and they are under this kind of pressure,” Marotta told reporters.

“It would be better to reduce the transfer window, but it’s an atypical season with the World Cup in between. Skriniar is a certainty for our team.”

However, according to Tuttosport, Inter Milan would be willing to sell the 27-year-old defender during the winter transfer window if it becomes clear he will not sign a new contract.

The report suggests that an offer of between €20m and €25m (£22m) is being considered by the Serie A giants, who do not want to risk losing him on a free transfer next June.

Inter Milan are expected to hold talks with Skriniar’s agents this week to try and convince the centre-back to commit to the club.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Inter Milan are prepared to pay the Slovakian a salary that would make him one of the club’s best players.

“The offer will be between €6m and €6.5m (£5.3m and £5.7m) net per season,” Di Marzio said. “And if the player asks for what PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) offered him this summer, it is clear that an agreement cannot be found.”

The centre-back has made 227 appearances for Inter Milan since joining in 2017 from Sampdoria, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists.

Skriniar has also won titles during his time at the San Siro, lifting the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia and the Italian Supercup, as well as helping the team reach the Europa League final in 2019-20.
