Man Utd told how to seal Erling Haaland transfer to fix ‘mind-boggling’ error

Sam Allardyce has offered tips on how Manchester United might beat Real Madrid to the signing of Erling Haaland. Haaland, 21, is expected to depart Borussia Dortmund this summer when his €75 million (£62.4 million) release clause becomes active in favor of a move to one of the world’s most powerful teams.

United and Real Madrid are two of the clubs connected with a move for the Norwegian attacker.

Since joining Dortmund, Haaland has scored 56 Bundesliga goals in 57 games while also earning 17 league assists.

And Allardyce, United’s veteran boss, has provided some advice on how United might win the battle to recruit the 21-year-old.

“I think Manchester United’s best chance is based on the full financial package simply because Real Madrid and Barcelona don’t have enough in the coffers at the moment,” Allardyce told Genting Casino.

“They’ve never been poorer than they are today.”

Despite a rumored long-standing interest in Haaland, United missed out on him when he departed Red Bull Salzburg for Dortmund in January 2020.

“I still believe that if Manchester United had secured him, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would still be in charge,” Allardyce concluded.

“And why Manchester United opted to let him go has baffled me since it happened.” And Ole had collaborated with him.

“If it came down to finances, then Manchester United — not Ole – made the biggest error.”

“I believe Ole would still have a job if he signed him.” Whoever acquires him will provide a significant boost to the team.

“If you go to 30 goals – and fingers crossed, he stays injury-free – you’ve got 30 goals every season for seven or eight years if you keep him.”

“You’ll never get in trouble, but the rest of the team has to live up to his expectations as well since he’ll want to win things.”

On Saturday, Haaland scored again as Dortmund defeated Hoffenheim 3-2 at the PreZero Arena in front of only 500 people.

Despite only playing 14 games this season due to an injury, the Norwegian’s shot was his 16th Bundesliga goal of the season.

The result puts Marco Rose’s team six points behind league leaders Bayern Munich, who have 49 points from 20 games.

United is expected to hunt for a center forward in the summer, with Edinson Cavani’s contract expiring and Cristiano Ronaldo turning 37 next month.
