The Red Devils are likely to strengthen their strike force during the upcoming transfer window. Ralf Rangnick, the club’s interim manager, has announced that the club will look for a young striker to replace Edinson Cavani.

During this time, they have been linked with a number of strikers, including Benfica’s Darwin Nunez. It has recently been claimed that Osimhen could be a summer transfer target.

According to today’s issue of Tuttosport (via Calcionapoli24), Osimhen is drawing a lot of interest from the Premier League, but particularly from Manchester United.

Napoli is not actively attempting to sell Osimhen, but will allow him to leave if he is paid at least £83.5 million. Gianluca Scamacca of Sassuolo might replace him if he leaves.

Cristiano Ronaldo has excelled with 18 goals on his homecoming this season, but he has not received much help from the other strikers in the first-team group.

Mason Greenwood (indefinitely suspended), Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, and Anthony Martial (on loan) have combined for just 14 goals.

To contend for trophies, United must have at least two legitimate goal scorers on their roster. When the transfer window reopens, the hierarchy may hunt for a solution.

Osimhen struggled in his initial season at Napoli due to injury. In 30 games, the Nigerian international scored 10 goals and provided three assists.

This season, he has been sidelined again by a cheekbone fracture, but he has performed considerably better, scoring 15 goals and assisting four times in 25 games for the Naples club.

If he stays healthy, the 23-year-old has the potential to become a potent goalscorer, but the important question is whether United is willing to invest big.

Osimhen was purchased by Napoli for £67.5 million. They might wish to make a tidy profit on his selling. Aurelio de Laurentiis, the owner, has a history of rejecting bids that are less than the asking price.

A summer agreement may be contingent on United’s priorities. With such a large spend required, they may prefer to pursue a striker with Premier League experience instead.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane might be available for little more than £100 million if he does not intend to renew his contract, which ends in the summer of 2024.

Kane will be 29 before the start of the next season, but he is still in his prime. Despite a poor start, he has 22 goals and six assists in 41 games this season.
