Erik ten Hag appears to be trying to emulate Ralf Rangnick’s tactics in the transfer market, as two defenders appear to be on their way out.

Since taking over at Old Trafford this summer, the Dutchman has welcomed three new players, with a lot of his current group poised to go. Alex Telles and Eric Bailly are two of the aforementioned first-team talents who could be on their way out.

Ten Hag made the decision to trade the former earlier this summer after signing Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia. Meanwhile, central defender Bailly has dropped down the Red Devils’ pecking order since the summer acquisition of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax, and his choices may be severely limited.

Sevilla, a Spanish powerhouse, has emerged as a prospective bidder for the pair and could be set to sign them soon. Telles is close to a loan swap to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, according to TNT Sports Brazil, with a medical set to be completed.

Meanwhile, different rumors claim that the Ivorian international will join his current United team in Spain. He was earlier linked with a move to AS Roma to reconnect with former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, but he looks to have changed his mind and will instead sign a permanent deal with Sevilla.

If the two transfers go through as planned, they will be the second and third players in the last six months to switch from Manchester to Seville.

Of course, Anthony Martial was allowed to join the Spanish team on loan in January in a contract that lasted until the conclusion of the season.

While the move did not go as well as many expected, the Frenchman only scored once throughout his six-month stay in Spain. That does not appear to have hurt his chances at Old Trafford.

After being given a chance by Ten Hag during pre-season and scoring against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, and Crystal Palace, Martial might be in line to start the Red Devils’ season opener against Brighton, given the continuous rumors about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.

There will be optimism that Telles, or even Bailly, can do the same with Sevilla changes. Whether they re-establish themselves in the first-team picture at Old Trafford or play well enough to attract transfer money, either outcome will benefit the Red Devils.

Summer exits are not expected to end there, with more than a month remaining in the current timeframe. Defenders Phil Jones, Brandon Williams, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all been linked with moves away and might all leave the club shortly.
