After struggling to get minutes at Manchester United, the Frenchman joined the LaLiga side in January. According to Marca, a six-month loan contract allowed him to rekindle his career, but things have not gone as planned in Spain, as Martial struggles to adapt into Sevilla’s system.

Julen Lopetegui has done a fantastic job in Andalusia, leading Sevilla back into the top four after just losing twice in LaLiga. Martial was signed just a few months ago by the former Spain and Real Madrid manager, but he has been played sparingly, with the 26-year-old being hauled off frequently.

Martial has yet to play a full game for Sevilla, with his most recent appearance against Real Sociedad being cut short after only 59 minutes due to a chorus of jeers from the home crowd as he went off the field. Since entering, the loanee has only scored once, and his dreams of a comeback are becoming a nightmare.

He remarked when he first joined the club in January: “I had many possibilities, but after speaking with the manager [Julen Lopetegui] and Monchi, I decided that Sevilla was the best option for me to play and enjoy football again, as I had lost it in Manchester.

“I wasn’t playing at the time, but I knew that if I moved to Sevilla, I’d have the opportunity to do so. In Sevilla, I’m in a great mood. The city is beautiful, and we have a great team, so it’s ideal for me. I’m having fun because I’m playing.”

By the time Martial returns to Manchester in the summer, a new manager might be in place at Old Trafford. Ralf Rangnick is now in an interim position, although Mauricio Pochettino and Erik Ten Hag are among the frontrunners to take over permanently. As he evaluates the team, the incoming manager will undoubtedly have his own ideas.

United’s forward line could undergo a massive reorganization. Cristiano Ronaldo’s age is a consideration, and there have been rumors concerning his future if the club fails to finish in the top four and, as a result, misses out on Champions League football. The contract of Edinson Cavani expires at the conclusion of the season, and he is anticipated to leave.

Marcus Rashford’s form remains a significant problem, and there are suggestions that he is contemplating his future after playing very sporadically in recent months. Anthony Elanga has been a rare bright spot for the Red Devils, while Jadon Sancho is settling in after joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
