Reports from The Sun suggest that Erik ten Hag’s handling of David de Gea’s exit has left a group of players upset. Ten Hag’s decision to replace a Premier League-winning goalkeeper with Andre Onana has further fueled discontent among the squad.
Ten Hag approved the £50 million signing of Andre Onana, a goalkeeper he had previously worked with at Ajax. However, the Cameroonian international has endured a challenging start to his Manchester United career.
Onana’s recent blunders, including a costly error in the Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich, have drawn criticism. His mistake allowed Leroy Sane to open the scoring in a 4-3 victory for the Bundesliga giants.
Following the match, Onana acknowledged the challenges faced by goalkeepers, admitting that his error had a significant impact on the team’s performance: ‘This is the life of a goalkeeper. It’s difficult. We started very well. After my mistake, we lost control of the game. It’s a difficult situation for us, especially for me because I’m the one who let the team down. We were excellent on the ball, and they didn’t create any chances. Their first shot on target, I made a mistake. It was the turning point, and the team’s performance suffered as a result.
