After signing a new contract with Manchester United this week, Bruno Fernandes is set to become one of the club’s highest-paid players.

The Portugal international has agreed to extend his contract until 2027, with an announcement anticipated soon. Cristiano Ronaldo is still Manchester United’s highest-paid player, earning a whopping £480,000 per week, while David De Gea earns £365,000 per week.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Fernandes’ new contract would see him become one of the club’s top three earners, which means he’ll be earning more than £350,000 a week, which is what summer signings Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane are supposedly making.

Fernandes’ goals may have dried up in recent months, with only nine for United this season, but his double for Portugal against North Macedonia earlier this week should have served as a timely reminder of how effective he can be when he’s at his best.

Whatever manager replaces Ralf Rangnick in the summer, getting Fernandes back to his best should be one of their top goals, with United appearing like a different team when he’s on fire.
