Man Utd boss Ralf Rangnick can follow Cristiano Ronaldo advice to beat Tottenham

When Tottenham Hotspur visit Old Trafford on Saturday, Ralf Rangnick may be without Cristiano Ronaldo for the second time in a row. Manchester United’s interim manager, on the other hand, may accept his forward’s earlier advise to help secure a massive victory in the Premier League six-pointer.

According to The Athletic, Ronaldo isn’t scared to voice his thoughts in the Manchester United dressing room.

In February, he convinced Rangnick that playing two strikers together would be the greatest way to serve him and the squad in the future.

Despite not starting a natural striker against Manchester City last time out, the German coach went back to his customary 4-2-2-2 formation.

He could have taken that decision with the crucial match against Tottenham this weekend in mind.

Rangnick may be wise to persist with a two-striker formation against Antonio Conte’s side after United thrashed Spurs at home earlier this season.

The Red Devils won 3-0 in north London, marking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s final victory as manager and Nuno Espirito Santo’s final appearance as Spurs manager.

On a night when the visitors dominated, Ronaldo started up front alongside Edinson Cavani, scoring a goal each before Marcus Rashford added a third.

Cavani is back in training and could play against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

Rangnick’s decision to use a two-striker system next time out will most likely be determined by Ronaldo’s availability.

Cavani won’t be able to play the entire game, and Rashford is having a bad run of form.

Despite the absence of Ronaldo and Cavani at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, Rangnick chose to start with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba as his most advanced players.

With United’s top-four ambitions hanging in the balance, there will be minimal tolerance for error against Spurs.

A defeat against Conte’s side could drop United to seventh place by the end of the weekend, four points below Arsenal with three games remaining.

As a result, it will be regarded as a must-win in the dressing room, with the possibility to close the gap on the Gunners while also suppressing a top-four contender on offer.

If Ronaldo is available, he may have a significant impact. Both on and off the field.
