Liverpool may have been struck a new setback in their chase of Mohamed Salah, according to reports, as they strive to tie him down to a new contract.
The Egypt international’s future has been in doubt for some time, but rumors over the weekend suggested that Liverpool may be making headway in their efforts to convince him to commit his future to the club.
However, according to Todo Fichajes, Paris Saint-Germain is aiming to hijack Salah’s contract discussions, and they now appear to be in a great position to pull him away from Anfield.
PSG will almost certainly lose star forward Kylian Mbappe this summer, as the young France international is on the verge of becoming a free agent and has been heavily linked with Real Madrid.
Salah may be a dream replacement for Mbappe, and PSG may be one of the few clubs in the world that can afford the 29-year-exorbitant old’s wage demands.
LFC has been hesitant to pay Salah the £500,000 per week that he desires, but PSG should have no issue coming up with that type of money.
It remains to be seen whether this will inspire Liverpool to step up their own efforts to offer something more to Salah’s liking, but things aren’t looking good for them right now.
