Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed his confidence in Marcus Rashford’s ability to regain form following the team’s 1-0 Premier League loss to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils had previously secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Palace in the third round of the Carabao Cup during the week, setting high expectations for a repeat performance against the Eagles.

However, Roy Hodgson’s side took the lead with a stunning Joachim Andersen strike in the 25th minute and successfully maintained their advantage throughout the game.

Tyrick Mitchell made a crucial goal-line clearance for the visiting team, while goalkeeper Sam Johnstone made an impressive save to deny Bruno Fernandes from scoring.

Rashford, who has only netted one goal this season, experienced another frustrating outing on the left wing, losing possession 18 times and failing to register a shot on target.

Following the match, Ten Hag acknowledged that Rashford is aware he can perform better and expressed his belief that the English forward will bounce back from his challenging start to the new Premier League campaign.

Ten Hag stated, “I think he knows he can do better than he is now, and I’m sure it will come. He works hard, and it will come, but not automatically.”

“The team has to work around him, and they have to invest a lot. The decision-making wasn’t up to par, and as a result, we didn’t score.”

Manchester United has faced a challenging start to the Premier League season, suffering four defeats in their first seven games, a matter of significant concern.

The club currently trails the final Champions League qualification spot by seven points, making their upcoming league match against Brentford a must-win to avoid falling further behind.

Before that crucial fixture, the Red Devils have a vital home game against Galatasaray in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday night.

They are in dire need of a positive response with three points after losing 4-3 to Bayern Munich on Matchday 1.

Galatasaray, currently leading the Turkish Super Lig, will present a tough challenge with their quality attack.
