Ronaldo completed his surprise comeback to Old Trafford around the same time Messi left Barcelona for PSG, after scoring 118 goals during his first term with the Premier League giants. They are still being compared across the board.

Ronaldo, who is nearing the end of his glittering career, has scored 18 goals in 32 games this season. However, from the standpoint of the team, his second coming has not gone as planned.

United’s Premier League title aspirations lasted only a few months. Meanwhile, after falling to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, they will be unable to win a title this season.

Messi and a star-studded lineup PSG endured a similar heartbreak in the last 16 of Europe’s premier competition. Messi, on the other hand, appears to be on track to finish the season with a Ligue 1 gold.

Former Premier League striker Nicolas Anelka told RMC Sport about Ronaldo and Messi: “Their careers are over, and I’m sure they’re both pleased with what they’ve accomplished in the last 15 years. They were faster than everyone else, and it is now typical for them to slow down.

“I was more taken aback by Messi than by Ronaldo. I expected Messi to turn around in France and Ronaldo to struggle more in England. Because, in my opinion, the Premier League is the most difficult tournament.

“[They] lacked intelligence. They should have considered [taking on] a less difficult assignment since finishing first requires making the correct judgments. Some players won’t hesitate to finish at 32, 33, or 34 in order to avoid criticism. I came to a halt at 36, but at 32, I crossed into China.”
