Man United ‘ready to pay a high price’ to buy midfield ‘genius

MIDFIELD: Manchester United’s aim now is to keep the ship afloat until the conclusion of the season, since they are without a manager after parting ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

That hunt is still ongoing, but there is also the squad’s future to consider, with a midfielder, or possibly two, high on the list of requirements if Paul Pogba leaves at the conclusion of the season.

Many names have already been mentioned, with Sergej Milinkovi-Savi being one of them, and new ones are being discovered on a daily basis.

The most recent is Lovro Majer, who is presently playing for Stade Rennais in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Europa Conference League after a close to £11 million summer transfer from Dinamo Zagreb.

He’s adapted so well to his new team that other clubs, including Manchester United, are reportedly interested in signing him for next season.

Many clubs are willing to ‘pay a high price’ for the ‘Croatian genius,’ as they put it, next summer, according to Homme du Match. While a January move is ‘to be excluded,’ many clubs are willing to ‘pay a high price’ for the ‘Croatian genius,’ as they put it, next summer.

Tottenham are now in the lead, but the source notes that other major European clubs such as Manchester United and Bayern Munich are ‘also interested.’

Rennes will find it “tough” to “hang onto the player for several seasons” if those clubs come knocking.

Certainly a different alternative than the usual suspects, and possibly one lower on whatever list has been compiled in Carrington’s transfer room.

Still, it’s fuel for thought, and it’s a story we’ll keep an eye on in the future.
