With their performances over the weekend, a number of Manchester United loanees issued a timely reminder to their home club.
Over the weekend, it was another mixed bag for Manchester United’s loanees, as eight players saw action for their temporary clubs, with varying degrees of success.
Nathan Bishop, a young goalkeeper, had possibly the best weekend of them all, keeping a critical clean sheet in Mansfield’s 2-0 win over Crawley. The win moved the Stags up to sixth in League Two, just four points from an automatic promotion spot and with a game in hand on third-placed Northampton.
He is not the only young United player hoping for promotion this season, with James Garner and Ethan Laird also vying for a place in the Premier League next season.
Garner shone once more as Nottingham Forest beat Peterborough 1-0 to move into the fourth position in the Championship, five points behind second-placed Bournemouth, for whom Laird plays. The teenage right-back played the full 1-1 draw with already-promoted Fulham, which Dominic Solanke saved with a penalty in the eighth minute of added time.
Dylan Levitt scored the individual highlight of the week in Dundee United’s 3-2 loss to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership. The Wales international scored after only four minutes with a spectacular dribble into the box, but his team would eventually lose points.
Matej Kovar played the entire 90 minutes for Burton in their 2-0 loss to Doncaster Rovers. Amad began for Rangers in their 3-1 win over Motherwell but was substituted after 28 minutes as part of a tactical adjustment when defender Leon Balogun was sent off.
Andreas Pereira came off the bench in Flamengo’s defeat to Athletico Paranaense, while Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams, Ethan Galbraith, and Di’Shon Bernard were all unused replacements for their respective clubs.
