Neymar expressed his support for Manchester United’s Antony after his skill split opinion this week.

On Thursday night, Antony started against FC Sheriff at Old Trafford and made his characteristic turn, now termed “the Anturny,” in the first half, which was followed by the forward surrendering control while the game was scoreless.

Antony was chastised for his showboating by Paul Scholes and Robbie Savage on BT Sport, but he responded on Friday by vowing to keep doing what got him there.

Neymar, Antony’s Brazil teammate, has now chimed in on the situation, giving a message of solidarity to his countryman. “Keep it up, nothing changes!” Neymar posted on Instagram. Go for it, young man. “Brilliance and Joy.”

Erik ten Hag denied that Antony’s showboating was the reason for his substitution at halftime versus Sheriff.

“I don’t like tricks as long as they’re functional,” Ten Hag stated. “I expect more from him: more runs behind, more time in the box, and more pocket play.” It’s wonderful to have a trick like that as long as it’s functional. It’s fine if you’re not losing the ball, but if it’s a trick because of a trick, I’ll correct him.”
