Mark Hughes Departs as Bradford City Manager
Mark Hughes has been relieved of his duties as the manager of Bradford City, signaling the end of his 19-month tenure at Valley Parade.
Hughes returned to management with Bradford in February 2022, marking his comeback more than three years after his previous managerial role, which concluded with his dismissal from Southampton.
In the previous season, Bradford City, hailing from Yorkshire, made it to the League Two play-offs but were ultimately defeated by Carlisle United in the semi-finals. However, in the current campaign, the team has managed to secure only three league victories, leaving them in the 18th position on the league table.
Ryan Sparks, the CEO of Bradford City, expressed gratitude to Mark and Glyn for their dedicated efforts and contributions to the club during their 19-month tenure.
He acknowledged that their impact on and off the field was substantial, and they came close to achieving the club’s objectives last season.
Unfortunately, the team’s performance has been subpar since their defeat in the play-off semi-final against Carlisle.
After 11 league games, the club finds itself far from its expected position. Consequently, the decision has been made to chart a new course in an attempt to rejuvenate the season.
On a personal note, Ryan Sparks conveyed his appreciation for working alongside Mark and Glyn, emphasizing that they part ways on amicable terms.
He invited supporters to join him in extending best wishes to Mark, Glyn, and their families for the future while cherishing the memorable moments they contributed to the club.
Mark Hughes boasts an extensive managerial career, having overseen the Wales national team, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Fulham, QPR, Stoke City, and Southampton.
In his playing days, he achieved notable success, securing two Premier League titles and four FA Cups with Manchester United, in addition to an FA Cup victory at Chelsea. Hughes also made 19 appearances for Everton, scoring one goal, during his stint with the club from March to October 2000.
