Despite the fact that Mason Greenwood has been suspended by Manchester United as a result of a police investigation, the club has included him in their official squad filed to the Premier League.

The once-capped England player has been added to the club’s roster of Under-21 players eligible to play in the league this season, but his situation has not changed.

Greenwood, 20, has been on paid leave since being arrested in late January on suspicion of rape, assault, and a threat to kill.

He is still on bail while Greater Manchester Police conduct their investigation.

Greenwood has not been named to United’s Europa League squad.

Greenwood made his senior debut for United in March 2019 and has since appeared in 129 games, scoring 35 goals.

He last appeared for the club on January 22, when he faced West Ham in the Premier League.

The official website of Manchester United does not enable supporters to purchase shirts with Greenwood and No11 on the back, but his player profile is still available.

The club has twice dismissed online suggestions that he was about to return to first-team training. A club representative clarified in April why his profile remains on the club’s website after being removed from their mobile app.

“There has been no change in Mason’s status,” added the spokeswoman. “We took his profile from the club app shortly after he was dropped from the squad in January.”
