After a 12-year sabbatical, the Portuguese superstar returned to Old Trafford in August, having won four Champions League titles, two La Liga titles, and two Serie A triumphs with Real Madrid and Juve. With 18 goals in all competitions this season, Ronaldo is United’s leading scorer, with his hat-trick against Tottenham in their last league match guiding them earn a crucial three points.

Since returning to Manchester, the 37-year-old has faced considerable criticism, with some fans claiming that his on-field and off-field demeanor is having a negative affect on the rest of the team. Arrivabene, on the other hand, claimed that Ronaldo’s behavior was not disruptive before to his departure, and that he believed the attacker would continue at Juventus.

“I saw a motivated Ronaldo on the first days of pre-season,” he told Italian publication Corriere dello Sport. I assumed he’d stay, but he changed his mind, and we all know what occurred.”

Although there were rumors that Ronaldo was on his way to Manchester City, it was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who ultimately signed him to a two-year contract. United are now outsiders for a top-four finish, while City is chasing their fourth title in five years.
