Manchester United cut Ronaldo loose at the end of November, shortly after the 37-year-old had given a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan where he criticised the club, Erik ten Hag and the Glazers.

Now, according to Marca, the Portugal international is on the verge of signing for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr with a deal already wrapped up.

It’s claimed Ronaldo ‘will play for the club from January 1’ after agreeing a lucrative contract worth a huge £171million a year. The deal would make him the world’s best-paid footballer, gazumping what rivals Lionel Messi and Neymar currently earn at Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Al-Nassr have apparently ‘showed the most interest in Ronaldo since the very beginning’, having previously probed a deal back in the summer.
