“I warned about him but I didn’t listen” – He was one of the reasons I lost my job Jose – Mourinho too, Erik ten Hag must be very careful

Solskjaer faced criticism for a lackluster start to the 2021/22 season, with the warning about Martial’s impact on his managerial future coming from former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol.

Back in 2020, Nicol expressed frustration with Martial, describing him as a player who could potentially “get you the sack.”

The French forward, signed in 2015, has struggled to meet expectations, scoring 89 goals in 313 appearances and facing recurring injury issues.

Nicol highlighted Martial’s inconsistent performances, acknowledging moments of brilliance followed by extended periods of underwhelming contributions.

Despite these concerns, Martial has endured at Old Trafford, with co-owner Joel Glazer reportedly favoring him and intervening to prevent his sale during Jose Mourinho’s tenure.

However, Martial’s future at the club remains uncertain as his contract is set to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season.

The likelihood of a contract extension appears low, and there are speculations about a potential sale in January to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

Under Erik ten Hag’s management this season, Martial has struggled to find the back of the net in 13 Premier League appearances, with only two of them being starts.
